Faithful Stewards
My last mission trip to the Dominican Republic was a little over five years ago. This time around, I was able to bring my thirteen-year-old daughter Lydia with me. We were able to do so much in just a few days. We did everything from making PB&J sack lunches for the kids, helping level the soccer/activity area in Monte Verde, writing thank you cards with the kindergarten classes, playing games, hearing and sharing stories, visiting Pastor Elvis’s home, playing
charades to help the high schoolers with their English, catching up with a former coworker that now calls the DR home, an uplifting church service, so many warm hugs, etc. It was truly an amazing trip and I’m always in awe to see what has and is happening down there. We were able to witness Carol Shepherd interacting with her sponsor child and seeing tears of thankfulness in both of their eyes was a remarkable and touching moment.
Through 2nd Mile Missions’ work, lives are being touched, children are given immense opportunities by being able to go to school, lives are being saved at the House of Hope, skills are being learned at the trade school, and the list goes on and on. I encourage you to take the leap and say yes to going on a mission trip. It is eye-opening, life-changing, and a great way to get to know some of your coworkers on a personal level. WBG gives very generously to this mission and it is wonderful to see firsthand the impact that it is making in so many lives.
Lydia and I are very grateful and blessed to have had this time together. We, along with any of our other team members would be happy to share more stories or answer any questions.
1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
